I'm leaning on this broken fence...(2002/12/01)
Welp...I wanted to be finished with my new design by now...but that didn't happen. I got a lot of it
done. The past few days, I've been working on the guestbook page, a comments system, and my update
page. The guestbook page is...a guestbook. The comments system allows users to make comments on
my semi-frequent ramblings. By 'users', I mean anyone who views the page. The whole system works
like a big guestbook, so you can just type a name and a message and it'll be able to post. The update
page is something for me to use so that I can update from anywhere on the interweb. I'd say more, but
you (yes,
you) will probably never see it. Meh. All I really have left to do is throw content
into the database. I'm also not certain of the current sections. Like, I'm probably going to change
'things' into 'programs'. And then there's the 'shrubbery' section...I don't know what I'm gonna do
with that just yet. Probably take suggestions and work with those. Anyway, give me a few more days
to get some content loaded up. I probably won't do it by then, but at least I'll have my good
intentions. Happy December.

Ah...Earphoria...but now an
official copy. Anyway, I've decided to start putting info into the
database and such. No, I'm not done with everything I should be done with, but I'm bored of that phase
so I'm moving on. Consequently, I'll be doing some major file moving arounding. This means the old
site isn't going to load...at all. So, go read something else for the time being.
Shmike finally updated his site with a (not a)
redesign and some links. So go there if you must go somewhere. 'Meh'.
The concept of sleep is way too tired...(2002/11/24)
Watching all the cKy movies in one night can have strange side effects...I mean, aside from the usual
"Hey, let's go jump off of tall buildings and try to land on cars." In my case, I can't get cKy
(the band)'s songs out of my head. This will probably stick with me for about a week. "Fun fun."
Anyway, my site isn't progressing nearly as fast as I had hoped. So, now I'm going to have to rush
things in order to get it done by sunday. Before I can throw all the information into the database,
I have to make
working pages for each section (there are fewer sections now, btw). Not complete
pages, mind you, but ones that have enough code for me to make the
framework pages. If you haven't
figured it out by now, I make my own terminology. Sooo...I've got some more pages to make in order
to start filling the database with info so that my other pages will work.
Why'd you have to be solo...
I really don't think those are the lyrics, but i'm not about to look them up. Anyway, I coded a good
chunk of the page. I had intended, like the original design, to code the whole thing is CSS...sans
tables. It didn't work out that way, and I ended up using tables...like the original design. It
seems if you put a div in a div in a div in a div in a div, and tweek with their positions, most any
browser will get pissy at you and end up placing things any place they want, not unlike someone
hanging up
any
poster they want in their cubicle. So, I had to rethink how to assemble this thing, using tables
and divs and such. I had to make all new backgrounds from the design and recalculate positions, but
I think I got it.
Maybe. Anyway, I've gotta add all sorts of
new style tags for the text formatting still. And then there's the whole 'grab content from a
database' thing. That's another thing, I plan on storing all the 'content' in a database, this way
I can just pull it from there instead of having to copy+paste everything from old designs. This
means more changes in design. Which is fun for me.
In my boredom that is Vineland, I've been staying up to 4am...doing stuff. It's so boring here, it's
too hard to sleep. Kinda like a black (or white) hole. Sooo, I've been working on VCD stuff for my
dad, reading some
religious
stuffs, trying to draw sprites (like,
videogame stuff), and looking at
kitties. So, uh,
yeah...I'm really really bored.
Sympathy is cruel...
Vineland. Ick. Dial-up. Ick. Well, I worked on the
status
window dealy. I'm thinking of adding some kind of 'prev' and 'next' buttons, so it can be
scrolled through and such. Have I said recently the The Weakerthans rule? Well...The Weakerthans
rule.

Suprisingly, I'm happy with how it's turning out. Now I have figure out how I'm going to organize

Wasn't quite ready for bed, so I started work on the site. Not too much done, really. Since I plan
on making this a personal site, I might as well be personal about it.

is a duck...at least I think it is. That's all I really have
accomplished. There's some other technical crap I have up in my head, but I'll spare you the boring
details.

Well well well...I just couldn't get myself to update my site. I'm sick of it already. Sooo...time
to change things a bit. What am I saying, 'a bit'. It'll be a complete overhaul. I've got a good
two weeks to change things around. Things are still uncertain for now, but I this is what I've got
so far. First, user accounts are gone. I really made them just to see if I could pull it off. I
did, to an extent, so I'm happy about that.
Why use it in my site? Well, if I said I wasn't
trying to mimic robotskull, I'd be lying. So, now, I realize it's utterly pointless to keep the
accounts, since they don't do much of anything other than prohibit usage of certain site features.
Let's see...what else...I'm probably going to shift things back to my
original original idea:
another boring e/n site. This means more updates, but less features. I'll still make stuff and make
a section for that. People will be able to post stuff and such, but it'll just be a simple form to
fill out rather than making an account / loggin in / etc. Well, more stuff later as stuff come to
mind.
