The 100 Deaths of Cartio - 008
Cartio came to and was welcomed, once again, with pain. His
left shoulder had been stabbed, the knife still in his arm.
A body came flying towards his, but Cartio instinctively dodged
it.
"You're still moving!?" yelled the man as he turned around.
"Shouldn't I be?" replied a confused Cartio.
"Why won't you die!"
The man pulled out another knife and lunged at Cartio once
again.
Alright then, if that's how things are going to
be... Cartio dodged again while pulling the knife from out
of his shoulder.
...Then I guess I'll have to end this now.
He turned around and stabbed his opponent in the stomache. They
locked eyes for just a second, and then Cartio proceeded to lift
the knife, still in the man's body, straight up between the ribs and
towards the neck, letting blood and organs fall where they may.
With his opponent thoroughly taken care of, Cartio started to assess
the situation. He was in a cage of sorts, made up of old fences
and pallets. There was an angry crowd outside of the cage, yelling
in all sorts of languages. Looking around inside the cage, he noticed
3 bodies lying in expanding pools of blood.
Hrm...I'm too cut up
to live much longer...! It then occured to Cartio that he was going
to die, as was his curse.
If I can take out the one sent here
to kill me, maybe I can rid myself of this fate.
"So," Cartio yelled out, "Anyone else?"
A door was opened and three men walked in, each looking pretty angry.
The men lined up against the cage's wall and stared at Cartio.
Heh, this should be fun. Cartio pointed at the first one, and he
came flying towards him. Cartio threw the knife and hit him in the arm.
He continued to charge him.
Uh oh... Cartio turned his right
shoulder to face him and took the hit. He was knocked to the floor.
"Down already?" said the man as he lauged.
While he laughed, Cartio looked around the cage to see if he could find a
weapon. In the hand of one of the corpses was a crowbar.
That'll
have to do. He got to his knees and then dashed for the crowbar.
The other man, suprised, turned to face him as he pryed it out of the
corpse's hand.
"Hahaha, you're fast, little man, I'll give you that. But you haven't
an idea how to use that."
"Is that so?" replied Cartio.
"Haha, smug too. Go on, take a free hit."
The man held his arms behind his back and leaned his head forward.
He must have a death wish...but he's right, this body won't dent
him at all, even with the help of this. Cartio stood up and
prepared to take a swing. Instead of swinging, however, Cartio held
the crowbar down and thrust it quickly into the man's jugular. The
man's laughter quickly changed into futile gasps for air. He fell to
his knees.
Who's laughing now? Cartio assisted gravity and
smacked the man in the back of his head, leaving him flat on the floor.
"So, who's next on the..."
Before Cartio could finish his sentance, two knives had entered his gut.
Enraged, Cartio pulled out the knives and rushed his next fight.
"Whoa! You're still going..." started the knife thrower.
"Shut up!" screamed Cartio.
Cartio, knives in each hand, proceeded to carve the man to pieces. Fingers,
chunks of the arms, slices of face, and other parts that should stay attatched
proceeded to fall from the man as Cartio continued to yell and swing. The
man screamed as his innards became more and more exposed. Feeling quite vented,
Cartio ended him by thrusting one of the knives into his skull.
"Well done," said the third man as he sarcasticly applauded, "but I'm afraid
you ain't got a chance against me."
"Oh really," replied an angry Cartio, "and just why not? Did you see what I
did to those other three?! I'll cut you until your...your..."
Cartio fell to his knees, covered with blood, much of it his own. As his senses
started to fail, he could hear the man's chuckling fading out. Soon his vision
went as well, and all faded to black.
